Darshini Ravindranath
Research Group Leader – Climate Policies, Finance and Processes, IWMI
Darshini brings over 15 years of experience working across a wide range of organisations, including government bodies, research institutions, multilateral development agencies, private sector consultancies, and NGOs.
She currently serves as Research Group Lead, Climate Policies, Finance and Processes at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), where she leads programs focused on water, energy, and climate resilience.
Previously, Darshini was Principal Policy Advisor and Program Lead, International Climate Finance at the UK Government, overseeing UK Aid initiatives across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. She also held a senior policy advisor role on energy markets during her tenure there.
Darshini has provided expert research, technical assistance, and policy guidance to support the transition toward low-carbon, climate-resilient development with organisations such as the Asian Development Bank, UNDP, UNEP, the Grantham Research Institute, and WaterAid.
Earlier in her career, she worked as an economist at a multinational infrastructure consultancy in the UK. Darshini holds a PhD in Sustainable Resources from University College London and an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
